Custom Winterboard Theme – Part 1

**Before you begin PLEASE make sure WINTERBOARD is INSTALLED from CYDIA**

To begin SSH into your iPhone following these instructions.

Once connected, go to the root directory or /

In WinSCP click the folder with the / on it, or in Terminal type cd /

Next we’re going to navigate over to the WinterBoard folder.

In WinSCP follow this path /private/var/stash/Themes.XXXXXX (note the X's are different for each device)

In Terminal use your cd commands.

cd var
cd stash
cd Themes (then hit tab to auto complete)

In your themes folder you should see the folders that you already see in Winterboard. *For Example: Saurik.theme*

Create a new directory (naming it whatever you’d like, for this guide ill use Greg.theme)

Now is where it gets fun, we’ll stick with just editing simple images until Part 2 when we go more in depth.

Remember iPhone naming conventions have to be EXACTLY correct or they will not work. If something is a capital, then it MUST be capitalized or it will not work.

In that folder, you would put this for a wallpaper (320×480):

Dock:

Dock.png

Status Bar:

StatusBar.png

Lock Screen Wallpaper:

LockBackground.png

Text Message Background:

Now that we got our lockscreen and other images “pimped” lets take it a step further by adding a custom slider.

Please remember, custom doesn’t always mean you need to MAKE it yourself. Try googling for images and when you find one you like open it in Adobe Photoshop. Resize it to 320 x 480 pixels and save it as a PNG-8. Then you’re good to go.

Same concept with the sliders except save them as 71 x 47 pixels.

There are 3 different sliders.

Unlock, Accept Call, Power Off.

Once you have all three sliders created the naming convention is as follows:

Unlock Slider:

bottombarknobgray.png

Accept Call Slider

bottombarknobgreen.png

and

Power Off Slider

bottombarknobred.png

After these files are create go back to your SSH session, and Create a folder in Greg.theme (obviously its whatever name you chose) name that folder Bundles (this is one hell of a folder, more later).

In your Bundles directory please create another directory named com.apple.TelephonyUI

When you’re done creating that directory go inside it and copy over your 3 slider files.

Viola! Part 1 is completed! Go into WinterBoard select your theme *For Example* Greg.theme

WinterBoard will respring with your custom images and sliders!

If somewhere you got lost please feel free to comment on the site for help!

-Greg
